Depends on the point of view. It routes value, bitshares is not built for that.
Also steem isn't built to be a decentralized exchange.
bitshares cant route value? lol. seems to do a much better job than btc to me and if you are btc maximalist you can trade a btc blockchain derivative there that wont slow to a crawl everytime a bunch of newb buy bitcoins, bitcoin unlimited tries to fork or people just decide to exceed its pathetic 7 tx/s.
The only reason bitcoin is expensive is because people are willing to pay that price for it and it claims to be the "most secure" chain because it expends lots of resources to mine has a high difficulty but never mind the fact basically 4 mining pools or less and some devs who feel treated like jesus in the persecuted sense no matter what they do control it.
