I had no idea the amount of electricity used by Bitcoins network. As a miner i am very concerned about the future of GPU and Asic mining. Proof of stake is going to look a lot more appetizing as analysis like this reach the publics attention.
Of course they are building in Iceland and other places that are naturally cold and take advantage of the green energy sources
I don't know about the actual figures, but yeah if you think the network has more computing power than the 100 supercomputers combined, could be. It's oversecured you could say or it should serve as an interbank system. The constant miner subsidies muddle the water.
I suppose it is just a begining it will grow much bigger.
