$20 Canadian Paper Bills (1969 and 1979)

in #bitcoin6 years ago

My favourite Canadian paper money series is that of the 1969 to 1979 series. I really like the design of the bills in this series and all the bills are quite colourful incorporating more colours then the predominate colour of each bill. These notes have been therefore called the 'multicolour series' by the Bank of Canada. In 1979 the Bank of Canada changed the $5 and $20 bills slightly. I have photos of both the 1969 $20 paper bill and the 1979 $20 paper bill below to show how the bills changed with the updates. One of the more noticeable differences is that the serial number was moved from the front to the back of the bill. This makes the front of the note less busy which I think is an improvement as the front of the bill has quite a bit of information already displayed and the back of the bill before the update simply had an image of a Canadian scene. On the back of the $20 paper bill the scene is that of Moraine Lake in Alberta's Valley of the Ten Peaks, an image showing the Rocky Mountains and their epic grandeur.
