Very interesting viewpoint. I a suppose a parallel can be drawn to net neutrality which was also good regulation to protect consumers. Regulation that makes investing safer and exchanges more secure definitely wouldn't be a bad thing.
My main concern would be that the banks would lobby a lot to try to bias regulation in their favor.
