Exodus wallet adds TrueUSD (TUSD) — alternative to Tether (USDT) and Shapeshift goes KYC

TrueUSD (TUSD) - Tether competitor?

Last month (August 16, 2018) Exodus added TrueUSD to their wallet (version 1.58.0). TrueUSD (TUSD) is an erc20 token on the Ethereum blockchain.

The TrueUSD website indicates that the coin is a stablecoin which is redeemable, one-for-one, in US dollars. They state that the coin is an asset token created (their first, and so far only, token) on their TrustToken Platform:

Our open source smart contracts ensure a 1:1 parity between TrueUSD and USD in the accounts.

Within the Exodus.io wallet you can trade TrueUSD for any other exchange-enabled coin within the wallet (Exodus also allows the storing of 48 or so not-exchangeable Ethereum assets) through the wallet's built-in Shapeshift service.

A few days ago the Nanid Bear traded approximately $50 US dollars worth of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) for TrueUSD (TUSD) within the Exodus wallet:

Please note that approximately 10 minutes passed between taking this screenshot and pressing the exchange button. I ended up receiving 48.45 TUSD rather than 50.02. Moreover, I believe that at the time of the trade (night of Sept. 2nd, 2018 - Mississippi time) the market value of BCH was approximately $635 US dollars yet TrueUSD valued 1 BCH at approximately 598 TUSD.

Or maybe the value was determined by Shapeshift (and Exodus). I honestly and truly don't know so please don't read too much (negative or positive) into this, I'm only making notes here.

However, on the same night I did trade some Bitcoin Cash (BCH) for Golem (GNT) and I remember trying to determine, in US dollars, if the exchange value was closer to the US dollar value of both coins (BCH and GNT) and I believe it was.

In closing it should be noted that Shapeshift.io (while as of today, Sept. 7th, 2018, is still functional within the Exodus wallet) is now moving to a full custodial model and will (now) reportedly require mandatory membership and KYC (Know Your Customer) compliance from all customers. Please see:

Shapeshift Moves to Membership Model Requiring User Information by Kevin Helms - Sept. 5th, 2018

Four Alternatives to Shapeshift by Kai Sedgwick - Sept. 5th, 2018

The four alternatives include (1.) Changelly, (2.) Flyp.me, (3.) Changenow and (4.) Coinswitch (as well as a couple suggestions in the comment section of the cited article, including (a) Faa.st and (b) MetaMorph.pro).

Here's what Andreas Antonopoulos recently (Sept. 5th, 2018) had to say regarding ShapeShift implementing KYC:
