Unless you've been consciously ignoring all social media and news outlet, there is possibly no way you are not aware of what's going on in Venezuela at this very moment. Truthfully I'm not surprised, as the can has been kicked down the road so many times already, I was beginning to wonder how overdue US intervention was.

Before I enrage either side of the discussion, allow me to state my position clearly: "In principle, I'm against intervention, but I can't say I don't see the end of Maduro's regime as a negative" - I should also say, that I'm quite surprised to see some people defending Maduro, some left leaning talking heads talking about his legitimate claim to the presidency.

I realize my bias is getting in the way of me being objective, but knowing Guaido to be an advocate for Bitcoin, and someone who rejected Petro, the scam the Maduro regime created, makes me like guy already. It goes without saying that I know very little about his character, but what I do know is that he stands in opposition to what I can only describe as one of the biggest tragedies to have stuck Venezuela in my lifetime.

Obviously nobody truly knows what's going to happen, and there is a big chance that we might be seeing an armed conflict sprout, but if it does, I don't see it lasting long at all.

I'm sure there speculation that the US is doing this for the oil, for access to the resources, is already being put forth, and I'm not stupid enough to rule that out. But, this could be the difference between life and death for people who are literally starving, so the price although steep, seems to be the only way forward.

Greetings, @meno. Thanks for posting on the situation.
I'm going to rescue this from your post

I'm sure there speculation that the US is doing this for the oil, for access to the resources, is already being put forth, and I'm not stupid enough to rule that out. But, this could be the difference between life and death for people who are literally starving, so the price although steep, seems to be the only way forward.

For those who criticize the US administration for the obvious economic and strategic interests (if you have read my blog you should know my possition), at least the US is doing something to end our tragedy.

Other countries, such as Russia, Iran, Turkey, Cuba, and China are not only equally interested in our resources, they are already exploiting them (have you seen the ecocide being commited in our forests?) and they are more than willing to continue doing it at the expense of a whole nation ruining its economy and becoming totally dependent on imports from these interested countries, half its population going into exhile (that will be the case if this does not end now), and millions of lives being destroyed in the process.
So much for speaking up against colonialism/imperialism.
Give me a fucking break!

Let's hope that my Venezuela can make some change, so that people can no longer go hungry and work, so that they can not see more dead in need of food, where it is a beautiful and beautiful Venezuela as before.

It's called "regime change". The Americans try to do this with every country not wiling to give them access to their resources. Oil, gas, you name it.

this is US foreign policy. It's late stages of a US coupe in Venezuela. It's the same exact tactical plan we used in Guatemala in 1953 and very similar to the plan we used in Iran in 1954. What we see in the news is the result of the plan and not reaction to real news. It's all been created by us over time. @madmac is exactly right. We do this shit all the time and the consequence is always several decades of violence and death for the innocent populations of these countries. It's funny that we feel so wounded by Russian interference in our election when they learned it from us.

I do hope Maduro will go peacefully and that new and fair elections will be held - but I believe there will be a quite bitter-sweet taste to the new regime if it gets initiated due to US intervention. A war will only make matters worse ... far worse.

I don't believe there are any quick fixes to the Venezuelan economy - they will still experience hardship for many years to come, but with a more economically competent leadership at least there should be some light in the end of the tunnel. Getting control (or ridding themselves of) their defunct bolivars currency should be an obvious first step.

It sad that it takes this political and soon military noise to really consider the more important aspects of human rights and needs based on what the population is going through. I just hope that the costs are not too great and it has already been costly to the citizens of Venezuela.

I just hoped good things begin to happen in Venezuela most especially their economy standard
