Bitcoin and altcoins

As I was observing the trends of different altcoins I noticed that most of these altcoins are directly proportional to bitcoin. Whereas if the value of bitcoin increases most altcoins values also increases and the opposite is also true. As of the present though bitcoin's value is decreasing it still remains as the "gold" of the cryptocurrency world
