A gold/silver backed currency accepted worldwide without centralized government control would beat cryptocurrency, though both would most likely operate in parallel.
Lots of IFs, but Schiff isn't necessarily wrong.
The question comes down to socio-economic assumptions and timeline.
This is still a case of "nothing" backed by more "nothing". It's like assigning value to hopes and dreams; neither gets anything done. Only action has value. Neither Bitcoin nor gold, in and of themselves can shelter, clothe, or feed me. I do recognize, however, that Bitcoin is less subject to gov't manipulation.
