Which cryptocurrencies have grown the most so far this year?

For those who bought cryptocurrencies, this year has been nothing but celebrations and profits. But far from what we can imagine, Bitcoin investors are not the ones who have won the most. Others lead them, in some cases with percentages that are really impossible to believe. Let's see the case of the 10 main cryptocurrencies, not including Bitcoin Cash that was born in mid-year, therefore we do not take it into account in this analysis that compares prices between January 1 and November 7, 2017.

Those who bought Bitcoin on January 1, 2017, paid it at a price of $ 963, which could be considered quite high compared to the previous year. But far from many forecasts that said the currency would reach $ 2000 by the end of the year, the asset far exceeded these projections. Today it has a price of 7226 dollars, 750% more than at the beginning of the year.

However, those who bought Ethereum take the lead in profits. This cryptocurrency was worth $ 8.2 at the beginning of the year and now has a price of $ 304.7, that is, 3707% above. The case of Ripple is similar in percentage: from a value of 0.006 dollars it rose to 0.2 dollars, that is, it generated 3333% of profit to its followers.

Litecoin had slight gains on Bitcoin, in terms of percentage. The currency started costing $ 4.65 on the first day of the year and 11 months later it is worth $ 56, that is, 1204% more. The case of Ethereum Classic is more or less similar in percentage: it was worth 1.4 dollars in January and now it is worth 14.5 dollars, that is, it generated a profit of 1021%.

Monero, on the other hand, is more or less on par with Bitcoin in earnings. It was priced at $ 13.7 on January 1 and today it is worth $ 99.3, that is, it grew by 724%.

Finally, it is worth highlighting the case of the two cryptocurrencies that have performed better. Precisely two that a few months ago did not want were in the top positions of the CoinMarketCap ranking and now occupy positions 7 and 8 according to its capitalization market: NEO started January with a price of 0.15 dollars and today is worth 26, 45 dollars, that means a growth of nothing more and nothing less than 18,857%. While NEM, which was worth $ 0.003, now has a price of $ 0.18, which implies a growth of 6000%.

In general terms, the market capitalization of the 1265 cryptocurrencies registered in CoinMarketCap has grown from the 18.2 billion dollars that was worth in January of this year to the 199 billion dollars that is worth at the moment. It is an increase of 1093%.

Undoubtedly, this is a phenomenon of the investment market, which in all cases reflects - at least this year - earnings well above other markets, such as the stock, the purchase of gold, the real estate trade or the acquisition of foreign currency. What is going to happen? There are experts who say that this year has not generated more than a bubble that will explode at some point, while others say that the cryptocurrency business is just beginning and will still bear more fruit. For some it is only a speculative market, for others, however, it is a valid, legal investment, a 21st century investment, perhaps the most novel until now.
