Some guidance for beginners wanting to learn about Bitcoin and Blockchain

in #bitcoin4 years ago

The news about Bitcoin is spreading faster every day. Most likely this isn't your first time hearing about it. You may have heard about Bitcoin at school or on talk radio on your way to work. A friend or family member may have tried to explain Blockchain to you like you're five. In any case, I'm sure you've noticed that the internet in a frenzy, and you may feel like your missing out.

You have some questions and that's understandable. You've read several articles online that claim to have a simple explanation. The problem is, you're still lost. Again, That's normal. When I was first introduced to the Bitcoin Blockchain. I didn't get it. After a while, I grew an interior the topic and wanted to learn more.

So, I spent hours upon hours searching the internet for answers to a list of questions I had written down on paper. It didn't take long before I found myself caught in what seemed like an endless cycle of confusion. By the time I understood the answer to one question, my list had gained several new questions.

As this went on, the complexity of each question was becoming more and more difficult. After reading dozens of articles on crypto-currencies and cryptography it finally "clicked". The moment of relief that I felt at that moment was a very brief one. What followed it was the realization that I had only understood the very basics.

I felt overwhelmed. I was flying in at full speed and poised for a crash landing. It felt as if the amount of information I had consumed would have taken half a lifetime to develop. Don't panic like I did, this is only the beginning of a technological revolution. There is plenty of time to catch up and become a Bitcoin Blockchain expert.

My best advice is to take your time in consuming this information. Don't overwhelm your mind by trying to understand it all in one day. Bitcoin has been around since 2008, and a lot has happened in that time, most of which flew under the media radar. To keep it simple, try picturing Bitcoin as the 1850 American Gold Rush. In the same way, visualize the Blockchain as a stack of Lego blocks. This helped me remember how basic the foundation of these technologies actually are.
