Interesting perspective. You may be right, however I have a slightly different perspective. I think that the vast majority of people with crypto accounts are not at all interested in crypto or the technology and only got involved as the price went up. It was pure speculation and to a large degree still is. Look at the ridiculous amount of money being raised on ICOs with nothing more than an 8 page white paper!
However, if institutional money gets involved, all bets are off. The question is, will institutions buy coins hoping they go up, or invest in the actual companies developing the tech?

I think there is much less investment then people think.. also in terms of blockchain projects within companies. I think they are dabbling with it but not yet super serious. There are some very revolutionary ideas but the only thing that i have seen really works for consumers is Steemit & Bitcoin. Everything else is just tech play. For banks its of course great because they are saving money and just replacing swift with ripple etc.
