and it is taking the rest of the market and Crypto space / Alt Coins with it to a large extent. And there's 4 hours left in the EST day.
Today in Bitcoin was a pretty epic day.
Bitcoin prices hit a high of $1,182 according to the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index (BPI) – passing the previous all time high set more than three years ago in November 2013, when the BPI reported an average price high of $1,165.89. I am typing this blog post out here at just after 8 pm EST, so it is adjusting as I work on this.
The low on that same chart hit $1171 today. The chart self adjusts in real/close to real time as you look at it.
What is the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index?
Launched in September 2013, the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index (XBP) represents an average of bitcoin prices across leading global exchanges that meet criteria specified by the XBP.
It is intended to serve as a standard retail price reference for industry participants and accounting professionals.
Prices started to trend north yesterday -- Wednesday at 9:00 UTC. The prices headed towards a high of $1,100, staying above that level all through the night and into today. The increased gains today mean an increase of more than 4% since the start of today's trading.
The trend continued, after a morning of price gains. It is well known now that we are in the never before seen territory where Bitcoin's value has stayed above $1,000 this many days in a row. It is now above $1000 USD more days in a row, than it spent above the $800 mark all last year.
Amazing.
Why the dramatic rise? Can we say for sure?
Many factors influence the market but last week, I was on the show This Week in Bitcoin (Links just below this paragraph) and stated that my News of the Week (like many others, the last several weeks have been saying) that traders and holders / investors have been bullish on the currency based on the news and date fast approaching that the SEC ( US Securities and Exchange Commission ) will approve the first-ever bitcoin ETF.
- The SEC has self imposed the deadline of March 11th for their decision, which has already been delayed many times.

It's good time's with bitcoin. It's interesting to see more and more of FOMO :P
I know I've had people contact me to help them get started in Crypto and Bitcoin that I never really thought I would hear from on the subject. That's a barometer for me.
IKR! I had to enjoy it a little bit and rub it on to some of them. I've been trying to tell people to buy since it was below $100 per btc. Some still haven't bought and missed the opportunity twice...SMH
