Harley Davidson Motor Company Starts Selling On Amazon

In a HUGE HUGE HUGE FU@K YOU to their dealer network, Harley-Davidson just cut out their own life-blood by cutting a deal with Amazon to sell directly online.

The MOCO must be really desperate to try and salvage what market share they have left. They have been pandering to the Millennials by trying to reinvent their brand. (Bad idea when you are only known for nostalgia for the last 50 years)

Supposedly it is only "select Harley-Davidson apparel and riding gear." .........for now. But I can tell you with 100% certainty they will sell hard parts and everything short of motorcycles on Amazon. Who knows they might bypass the dealer network altogether.

If you follow my blog you know I have written about the MOCO many times. Its sad what has become of the once iconic American brand, now brought to its knees by corporate greed.

Here is a link to the story.

@rewards-pool where a small delegation can get you a big splash.

Damn, they are taking over. You’re right though, apparel is just a gateway... they will be selling parts in no time. That will eventually kill foot traffic in their dealerships. I want to try on my jackets, gloves etc.

Ever since Willie G Davidson stepped down and retired the MOCO has be about NOTHING else but the bottom line. Sad. The last few years has seen the dealer network shrink. Mom and pop dealers that had been open 70+ years had to shut down. This is just another nail in the coffin of a dying brand.

Very disapointing. While I know Harley is struggling, if there's any iconic brands that don't need Amazon they are one of them. It's sad to see the whole world go to Amazon. While i do sometimes like the convenience and easy returns of Amazon I try to support small business and local business as much as possible because I don't want to live in a world where I have no choice and Amazon has a monopoly on everything

Its the easy way out. They could win back their core demographic. They could build trust with the company they have and the brand with a new base of customers. To bad they don't have that nostalgic work ethic to go with the nostalgic product.

Plus this is a short term fix. Wont help them in the long run if they dont get back to what made them great.
