Stigma of the Lily Flower- Behind The Photo contest - Edition #3
Lily is a very common flower and I think it is available in everyone's garden especially those who love flowers. Lily flower can be grown very easily with very minimal maintenance. The colors mostly available are white, pink, yellow, red, orange, etc.
I come across this pink Lily flower and I took a shot. It's a very normal shot and nothing special or appealing. But as you know nature has always something special at the macro level of photography. Suddenly I thought about taking the macro shot of its "stigma" and "anther". The "stigma" is white in color and the "anther" is of orange color.
Choosing the correct setting & adjusting the technical parameters to make the best shot is a different thing, but the choice of background for an object is also one of the skills of the photographer. As I wanted to take the best macro shot of the stigma and as the stigma is white in color, I definitely wanted a background that is dark in color so that it can perfectly make the object prominent which is white in color & portray the best macro shot for this flower. So I wanted to choose the background as either black or dark green.
I noticed another croton plan near it which has very dark green leaves. I decided to make the dark green leaves of the croton plant as the background for the stigma of this Lily flower. In bokeh mode, the dark green color would be blurred and would look really beautiful. So I took the flower pot of Lily flower and kept it near the croton plant and now tried to adjust its position so that the background can be made perfect as I wanted, for the macro shot of stigma of this Lily flower.
I took various shots of the stigma of this Lily flower from different angles and tried to adjust my position so that the object can place well in the dark background. Now you see in the series of shots that I took the white stigma is looking more prominent in the dark background and the real essence of the beauty of this simple Lily flower is explored.
The very last one is what I wanted as the final shot and as the background is perfectly dark green, the object(stigma) is captured so nicely & looking very appealing and prominent. The proper choice of the background has yield the best result for this macro shot.
I have taken all these shots handheld (a tripod could have yield better results). As you notice the Lily flower which was looking simple in the previous shot is now looking gorgeous, appealing at the macro level and the choice of this dark background is justifying its beauty in a true sense.
