The 1079 Project Pilesner for beersaturday 🍻

in #beersaturday5 years ago

Now for something completely different

I'm a craft beer man these days and for the most part, I drink IPAs! This week I've gone for something different, opting for a Pilesner.

The 1079 Project Pilesner

I bought this bad boy when I was doing the grocery shopping last week. After I'd put away the shopping, I figured I'd try it out, but I had a problem, the beer was at room temperature and would probably taste like dish water if I drank it warm.

I decided on the quick fix. Lash it into the freezer for an hour, that'd do it!

Fast forward around 17 hours and I'm sitting down at work chatting to a few colleague, when suddenly it hits me, that beer is still in my freezer!

Ah feck Balls! It'll be all over the food 🙈

Beer battered chips it is for dinner so!

Amazingly the can didn't bust, if it was a bottle it definitely would have popped it's lid!

So I was left with a solid block of beer!

I decided to leave it aside and let it thaw out. The freeze and thaw will have made shite of the beer, but I'd give it a chance anyway.

What's in a name?

Commemorating the first mention of using hops in brewing in 1079, this is dry-hopped for a bright, refreshing and joyously crisp flavour, crafted using 285 years of Dutch brewing craftsmanship.

Can Art

Nice simple design and colours in use here. Perhaps a bit boring, but not too bad on the eye either.

It's hard to give this one a proper review, after freezing and thawing it. To be fair, surprisingly it wasn't that bad at all, so I'll def try it again just chilled this time!

The Pilesner pour was a darkish golden colour and it made and held a nice white head.

It created a pretty ok mouth feel and it was actually quite hoppy which surprised me and it worked well for me.

All in all, not a bad beer, but nothing to write home about at the same time!

The Grade

2.25/5

Thanks to @detlev for the contest.

Peace out.

Pils are not my favorite either. With a 2.25/5 I will not be trying this one.

Yep, give it a wide berth, but to be fair I didn't help matters by freezing the shit out of it! :o)
