Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela had the highest murder rate of all national capitals in 2016

According to the United States Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Caracas had the highest murder rate of all major cities in 2016.

I'd like to ask my Venezuelan readers whether the violence got out of hand because of the economic crisis turned into a social crisis precipitated by the crash in oil prices in 2014. Or was it a really significant problem before as well?

A few years ago my mom was in a Skype video chat with a Venezuelan and someone shot someone on the street during the call. That was apparently a normal thing to occur

Finland is somewhat more violent than the other Nordic countries.

The intentional homicide rate in Finland is 1.6 per 100,000 per year and 51 per 100,000 per year in Venezuela or 51 times higher than in Finland. Interestingly, there are 10 times more police officers per capita in Finland.

In Venezuela, 99% of the police are corrupt. every time they catch a criminal who has stolen or something, they let him sell the roobado and then they take away 75% and leave him free. Friend this here is very strong. Those who can flee for their families do so, I tell you many of us who are in steemit do so in order to save and buy food. I for that and to save and if I am given the opportunity to go to another country I will do it. And I will do it for my daughters.

The crash in oil prices it was a factor but this crisis had been coming for a long time, this government that calls itself socialist is nothing more than a group of bandits, a simple example I will give few I want to hear the opinion of other Venezuelans too, Commission for the Administration of Currency Exchange (Cadivi in spanish) is responsible for the assignment of foreign currency (US dollar) that come from the sale of oil, USD 28,000 million have been lost or assignment to companies claiming to bring raw material and what they do is steal that money but they are not investigated because they are frontmen of some ringleaders the government party, they have ruined private industry, Petroleum of Venezuela (PDVSA) Venezuela's main industry is broken and that's what they did so many engineers and technicians that I know that they left the country, my sister for example civil engineer had to go to Spain because there is no future here and she is washing dishes and yet she sends us remittances to help us.

This is not a joke you can investigate yourself but this government has paramilitaries to its services, armed groups that only function in going out to kill if the protest gets out of hand to the police, this is a narco-state, several officials are investigated with evidence in the hands of world-class drug traffickers and they use state resources to traffic this is the wet dream of Pablo Escobar narco country.

There are many more things but I already extended a lot I'm already tired sorry for all this bullshit but everything I said is true and nothing but the truth

No friend. That violence is from the year 1999, when he won and was the only time he won a clean election in Venezuela. that was the resentful social of Hugo Chavez, the same who gave a coup in 1992. One of his first speeches the first thing he said was:

If a father steals because his children are hungry, that can be justified because he steals because of hunger.
With that frace opened the Pandora's box

From there he gave carte blanche to the gang of criminals who accompanied him while he was alive. After he died, they were in power worse than him.
He was practically the straitjacket of those criminals who accompanied him. that news comes out because there is a lot of pressure, and I tell you that those symbols are not the reality this is above what comes out there, much more is missing from that.

Life here in Venezuela is not easy. I am writing this to you but with a very strong pain in the chest for the sadness that gives me to see my country as they have these delicuentes who occupy positions in the government.

I imagine you ask? and what do Venezuelans do to counter that? it is not easy, the government has all the powers at will and for that it is not difficult to disappear anyone and then they invent a story. they apply selective killing to send messages to people and to keep quiet so they can not do anything. they also have armed groups in the neighborhoods and urbanizations so that the people who protest, those groups will get up against them regardless of whether there are children or not. These armed groups are called collectives and have more power than the police and the military.

Friend. There really is a lot I could tell. And it is not easy.

It's crazy how theses stories in the comments section are told of such a beautiful looking place. These are stories of how greed manifests itself in the society.
A lot of African countries have similar stories though. I'm hoping that with a new era things will change for the better and for you guys in Venezuela too.
