Drama Face; The Art of Dark Makeup

in #beauty7 years ago

Today I woke up with my pissy pants on, and decided to express that through my face by caking a bunch of black shit on it. That's what I love most about makeup and fashion. It provides a regular creative outlet that is as fluid as your mood and stitched together by the fabric of your imagination.

Ok, dark princess. Let's get started.

First start with a clean face and clean brushes. I clean my brushes with this brush cleaner I got at Sephora. It's instant drying, easy to use and inexpensive. This step is to prevent any bacteria from being transferred from brush to skin, and to avoid contaminating the pigment we will use with residue of another pigment.

The next step is to apply a thin layer of protection over your skin by applying some moisturizer.

Good job princess. Now time to put in some work. First I'm going to apply a concealer the same color of my face around my eyes. Then blend using a concealer brush.

Very nice. Starting out with a totally even pallet is a nice thing to do, so apply some cover up all over your face.

Looking better already. I usually use this time to prime my lashes so do that.

Once that step is on you can move on to shaping your face. I start this process by putting a small dot of a concealer a couple of shades lighter than my face in the middle of my forehead and spreading it to highlight areas appropriate for the shape of my face.

Blend using a beauty blender. I prefer silicone ones because they don't eat up any make up, and blend just as well. I use a quick dabbing motion to blend.

Since this is a more dramatic look, I'm going to apply a dark contour to a broader area than I normally would, theme blend everything together with a big poofy blending brush.

Black eye shadow is now placed on the lids of your eyes using a shading brush.

Now a grey pigment is blended into the crease using an eye blending brush. And also on the bottom lid.

Now a silver shadow is spread under the eyebrow and on the inner corner of the eyes using a soft smudge brush.

A pointed lining brush is now used to line the eyes and draw on eye brows.

Since this look is all about drama, I'm going to add a small amount of contour by my ears into my cheeks, then buff with a buffing brush.

Add some shimmering highlight with a fan brush. I like this color by Anastasia Beverly Hills because it has a blue tint to is and is so pretty.

Now all that's left to do is slap on some lipstick and mascara and add some setting spray and your look is complete. I like this shade comfort by urban decay. MAC has a shade called sin that also goes really well with this look that I tore my house apart trying to find but could not. image

I don't usually put on false lashes with dark eye makeup because they don't make a significant difference with this sort of look. So just adding mascara is enough.

Congratulations you're done!
