Common Sailor on Rocky Ground

Known as the common sailor (Neptis hylas), a species that mostly found in the wood of Indian subcontinent and southeast Asia. During the daylight, this typical butterfly is busy flying here and there, searching for food. The common sailor belongs to the family Nymphalidaein the genus of Neptis. From the closest range, we can clearly see that it has upper side black, with pure white markings. Forewing discoidal streak clavate (club-shaped), apically truncate, subapically either notched which make it include in the large butterfly. I was lucky to have a little chance to capture it before the dark in the wood. It happened after spending some time waiting for this butterfly to calm. This butterfly is rather common in Indonesia and can be found in the forest or in other wastelands. This species also love flowers and ripening fruits for energy intakes. This species can be easily confused with those of the Short Banded Sailor on the upper side, but the two can be identified with their drastically different undersides.
