Photos of my family's barn
The barn was built by my great grandfather in 1864. It's been an non-functioning farm since the mid 80's. The only animals that still roam in and around are the feral cats that people leave there and the mice that they feed on.
There's one way you can spot a really old barn: floor planks with different widths - and widths different from the ones you find in a lumber store. I saw one old barn where the width of those planks varied from three to fourteen inches! They were cut custom with a sawmill, prolly from trees on the property.
Oh yes, they were a full two inches in thickness.
