I have heard that bamboo has been studied by space agencies and it has been shown that it is the plant that has the highest growth rate, in a word, it is the one that most fixes carbon and produces oxygen, all a natural machinery.
It makes sense that it would fix the most carbon. It has a high temsile stremgth like steel and by weight it's compressive strenght beats concrete. They use it for re-bar and scaffolding all over asia and food too
That's interesting to see a forest of what is actually classified as a grass!
No wonder you see a lot of bamboo products if it can grow a meter in one day!
So did they groom this park or is that how bamboo grows naturally and do they ever harvest from it?
This park is maintained. I didn't see any dead or blown over bamboo. However in some of the back areas where the forests are private there were a lot more blow overs.
The do harvest thebamboo, too but agin not in this area because they want it to grow tick and impressive. So any farming will be very moderate.
Thank you for informing me on the part where bamboo can grow a meter per day because, I almost always feel guilty patronizing bamboo products like my combs and chopsticks. Well, I do not know but for me, the appeal of eating with bamboo chopsticks is such a novelty because, the taste actually lingers on with it.
but thanks for your info, I won't be deterred next time!

It seems Korea is full with bamboo trees
Not really. But more so than some places.

That bamboo forest looks so awesome. I only moved to Korea a few months ago, but I really hope I get the chance to visit down there.
Thanks for dropping by. I look forward to more posts about Korea from you. It is always neat to read about people who are new here.

Bamboo forests look great and strange to us. Here bamboo grows in some gardens, but very much smaller.
This area is special to have such large bamboo growth. In most areas like the park near my house, it is much smaller.

I think using products made with bamboo is fine, especially if you can use them more than 1 time.
