I have a really bad habit of staying up late. It's like I just don't feel sleepy in the night. How do I overcome it?

Have you ever been sleepy around 9 pm, just to stay up past 10 pm and be wide awake?

That is because at 10 pm the human body does a major detox. However, if you’re not asleep, instead of detoxing, the toxins are pushed back in the gallbladder and absorbed by the liver.

The act of missing this detox will wake you up due to cortisol release.

The only way to overcome this is to get to bed before 10 pm.

Don’t eat anything past 7 pm, as digesting will hurt your sleep.

Remember, we are on natures time, not human time. Never in the history of humans, until recently (since the invention of the light bulb, but a spec compared to how long humans have been around) have humans stayed up past when the sun went down.

Our ancestors have been around for over six million years.

Modern form of humans only evolved about 200,000 years ago.

Civilization as we know it is only about 6,000 years old and industrialization started in the 1800s.

So, over millions of years we have evolved to sleep when it was dark and be active when it is light.

If you stayed up all night in hunter gather times, you would die. Either a night predator would eat you, or you would not have the energy needed to hunt during daylight hours.

This is real talk, don’t believe me? Get to bed by 10 pm and get up by 6 am every day and tell me if your life does not change dramatically.
