Special education
Special education encompasses the teaching method that is tailored for students who have disabilities. The goal is to help learners with certain physical, emotional, behavioral, or cognitive development problems, and allow them to be educated at the same level as their peers. Special education services include, but are not limited to, specialized instructional approaches, specialized educational material, special equipment, or provision of an IEP. These services are often delivered in different contexts like supported or mainstreamed classrooms, resource units or special schools. Teachers, therapists, and other professionals work together to meet the needs of the student in question. The aim is to ensure advancement both academically and socially while cultivating self-efficacy so that learners are able to participate actively in the learning process. In the United States, IDEA is among the legislations that guarantee provision of appropriate education to all pupils, including those in special classes.
