The Australian Taxation Office WARNS PEOPLE ABOUT SCAM!
Yes, The ATO has officially warned people that there is a scam going on whereby people are contacted and told that they must pay taxes etc via BTC ATM's.
Although this is not a "new" scam and it has been written about before on various portals, including the official website of The ATO, the reason for concern is that tax payouts to citizens are on their way, thus making the season ripe for scam artists out there who prey on unsuspecting people!
It is not so great to read how scam artists are scamming people out of their crypto, but what can be read out of this is that the Australian government is definitely accepting crypto as something of "value".
Many may argue that this is not necessarily something they want to see, yet at the same time there is the argument of decentralizing the monetary system via crypto and to do so, yes, crypto has to be accepted and incorporated into our everyday lives.
It is unavoidable that governments shall have to accept the fact that crypto exists, functions and is being utilized by people!
So I guess the positive message that can be read out of this scam alert is that we are seeing the changes so many people had hoped for over the past decades. A step by step process, or in this case, leaps at a time, that leads towards the decentralization of the monetary system, or at least a viable alternative to "fiat"!
