Every single blogger, every community activist, everyone that talks to anyone in America - hell, the world - needs to stop this. They are all at risk, whether they know it or not. If a secret government operation like MK Ultra that psychologically tortured children, or like the CIA's black market drug dealing, Dyncorps organ deals, and etc., is protected with these claims of national secrecy, we're all fucked, because these are all things we need to find out about because they're really happening, and tell each other about because they're killing our children.
How about the medical studies conducted by Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and other similar august institutions that gave psychiatric patients, hookers, and homeless people syphilis on purpose to study their impact and spread both in the USA and abroad?
The US government has participated in all these things, and tried to hide them really hard, because they're horrible criminal acts. Most people probably still don't know they even happened, or if they've heard of them believe it. If it becomes illegal to state such facts as reveal such crimes - not steal secret documents that provide that proof - anyone that tries to protect their kids by letting their neighbors know and organizing some kind of defense against them would be just as liable under this criminal interpretation of the law as is Julian Assange.
JA didn't steal any documents. He just spoke about them - published them. In the process he helped us all to be a little bit safer BECAUSE WE ARE THE ONLY BRAKES ON THIS TRAIN and that's why he told us. So we could stop them from happening to us, our children, and our world.
That's why he's facing 175 years in prison. If he can be prosecuted for doing this so can you, me, and anyone else.
Not just journalists, but every parent in the world is faced with these same charges for joining a community association that tries to stop illegal drug dealing next to the local elementary school - because the CIA is the largest black market drug dealer in the world and the community association would then be working to reveal government secrets.
Don't focus on journalists being at risk, because they're not. We are.
