Oil on Ceramic Tile: 13" by 13"

Growing up, the old-timers would tell the story about how they were taught to swim. Basically, at a very early age, dad or an uncle would row them into the lake 30 yards or so and dump them out of the boat. They swam or they would drown.

Now, I never heard any stories about any of them drowning. But maybe they never spoke of it. It sounds somewhat traumatic, and a bit dramatic, but then again it never happened to me. And I never did learn to swim.

Anyway, this is the first painting I've made in more than a few months. It feels good to get one back to shore alive. Thank you.
