ART EXPLOSION WEEK 32: Theme VICIOUS - Pencil art

This drawing is for the ART EXPLOSION Week 32 contest theme "VICIOUS" - hosted by @juliakponsford
I related the theme"VICIOUS" to the vicious circle of Drug trade and violence.
Drug trade and conflict are so closely linked. This is a vicious cycle – poor development fuels conflict, which fuels the drug trade, which fuels conflict, which fuel poverty. As with most vicious cycles, this one is extremely hard to break.
I used 90 gsm Cartridge paper and Extra Dark, 2b and 6B Pencils for this drawing. Cartridge paper and 6B Pencils work wonderful for creating natural texture using the paper surface.
I made a basic outline and finalised on the elements I wanted to include in this drawing. I started shading from top side background
Then I worked on the Hat and included the vicious animal icon on the hat just to enhance the visual experience. The face texture is added.
Then I sketched the Cigarette and smoke. Smoky skull is also added to add the danger element in the theme. The wound mark is added to show the violent background. I gave the eyes very cruel look to enhance the vicious character.
The hand holding the Drug Syringe and Kinfe is sketched finally to show the close nexus between drug trade and the violence.

Very interesting choice of canvas. Shading must be difficult and you did a great job of making everything smooth. Bravo.
@dandays Thanks for the compliment. I keep the shrink wrapped canvas below the paper and press the 6B pencil flat and hard which gives the natural hash texture. Low pressure shading on paper surface gives the skin texture :-)
