Artchallenge 10 entry

I am happy to participate in the 10th art challenge and this week the painting we need to interpret is by Polish artist Igor Morski.

My interpretation:

The man is a representative of everyone stuck in the rat race of life. He is holding an umbrella trying to protect himself from the rain (anything that dampens one's spirit). The man is dressed in monochromatic clothes suggesting that he is a drab cog in the wheel/machine that is endlessly churning without care for the individual. The greys and blacks could also suggest the man is suffering from depression and feels like he has no way out. The depressed thoughts keep repeating in his mind as the brain whirls with forboding thoughts.

It seems like a dire situation but there is a glimmer of hope because there are three trees and a flock of birds. These represent life and freedom. If the man chooses to jump off the wheel and take the path of the unknown he may experience freedom like a bird.
