"A Secret World Through a Yolk Portal" - A Collaborative Art Journey with @everlove

in #art7 years ago (edited)

I saw @everlove's image "Life Stands Still" (below) and it seemed quite significant, though I wasn't sure why.  I see a yolk in her image, and as I thought about eggs I pictured myself standing at the cooker frying one.  Then I thought about what's going on internally/spiritually whilst I'm cooking that egg, because though it may appear I wait unmoving and watch unspeaking for 5 minutes just staring into that yolk, there's actually a whole secret world going on, and I am the witness.

My username @woman-onthe-wing along with the image of a bird symbolises how I've always felt... like I'm up in the clouds rather than on solid ground... carried along on the breath of the wind... always gliding with steady wings outstretched... always observing.  I hate the idea of being stuck against my will in any one place.  It's not that I'm not comfortable on my feet, I am, and I'm strongly connected to the earth underfoot and all that entails.  But I'm a dreamer and no matter how content I am with my life, my instincts say there is always more beyond what I can see out my window.  Not 'more' as in I'm dissatisfied with the simple life, but 'more' as in adventure  and connections.  I may be standing still as a statue, but my spirit self is stream-lined and soaring like a bird on the wing.  So, as I'm there cooking, standing and still, the food is ever-changing and so am I.  The food and I do not stand still for long.  I stare into the yolk and transcend this physical reality of my kitchen and a frying egg.  I disappear into the yolk and I watch my daydreams play themselves out.

The only way to make life stand still, for me, is to capture an image.  In this image the yolk is almost cooked and my daydream about to give way to a social meal... but also in this image a once-fleeting moment remains forever.

Sounds like you successfully did some old fashion scrying. You know, a gypsy woman in a cart staring at a crystal ball, that's scrying (for those that don't know). A very powerful and real practice. What's amazing is that you found this wisdom and inspiration by simply looking at a photo!! I love that, very impressive. Crystals are powerful, most have been around hundreds of thousands to millions of years, they very much have a story to tell. You have any crystals of your own? I'd recommend staring at some labradorite. Would love to see more crystal inspired art <3

I just went off there and read a bit about scrying... it's funny because that is what I do without realising!!! Thanks for drawing my attention to the practise of it... I will have to look more into it now!

very very creative!

Thanks so much! :-)

Actually @thatgrlbeth I'm afraid I know pretty much nothing about crystals or practises involving scrying or anything like that! I'm always interested and open to things that can give me more explanation or insight though, so if you have any pointers for a complete beginner then I'll go learn all about it and see if it resonates with me :-) Perhaps I'd love to see some more crystal inspired art too if that's indeed what it is!!!

"Scrying is the art of gazing into or upon a crystal (or a dark mirror-like surface such as polished obsidian), allowing the physical eyes to relax, and letting the inner psychic eyes open to receive visions or information." So you looked at a crystal, received and image (of an egg), and took inspiration/wisdom from said image. Even though you logically didn't know what you were doing, you successfully went through the whole process. So another part of you knew or you now know that you know :P Pointer GO GET A CRYSTAL! Go to a physical shop near by, google gem store or metaphysical shop. Even though it sounds cliche find one that "speaks to you", whatever one really grabs your attention. AND go buy a nice piece of labradorite online, it'll be way cheaper. Spend $20 at the very least to get one that has more "shiny" parts, it'll be worth it. Let me know or write me if you do, I'm a crystal hound and love sharing what I love <3

Thanks very much for this info @thatgrlbeth... I am totally going to buy some crystal now because I'm extremely curious about trying this process deliberately. I know many people are sceptial but even as a child I've always been drawn to and had connections with objects, mainly pieces of rock or stones or 'shiny bits'. It's almost like a sense of recognition, that there's something significant they hold within them, like a secret, and just holding them in my hand I felt calmer too. I still have all these childhood 'treasures'!

I'm very glad to have met you... I don't think these kind of meetings are accidental or without meaning... I feel like the universe (or whatever) is always guiding and revealing hidden truths. Give me a while to see what it's all about and I will surely post of my experiences! Thank you very much for your help!

Thanks for the words of appreciation! I had a similar attraction as a child and a compulsion to arrange things in a beautiful display. I realized as an adult I was just making altars, using pictures, beautiful trinkets and things with significance etc. Now I just do it with more intention, i.e. my High-priestess collage post. There's another example in my introduceyourself. Note: the crystals! They hold energy plain and simple, and I'm definitely a "metaphysical properties" believer. But some stones have very tangible properties like smokey quarts which gets that color from absorbing natural radiation. So if you're worried about EMF's, Fukashima...BOOM, get you some smokey's. Lepidolite is made of silica and lithium, it flakes off in shiny scales and have recommend it as a"body glitter stone" to friends dealing with depression, bi-polar or manic tendencies. Citrine takes MILLIONS of years to form, it grows, it's ALIVE and you don't think it will have some sort of energy signature? Of course you can feel something from different crystals! Glad to share my love them, can't wait to see it where it takes you <3

Oh my gosh I think you're me!!!

Right there with you @woman-onthe-wing. This art is a great representation of all of that and great beauty in the midst of it all!! I love this. Your writing, true expression and art. Fabulous contribution!!

Thank you @everlove :-) I knew we were kindred spirits the moment we met!

Me too!!! Some things you just know! <3

@everlove You guys are kindred! Cause you're both obviously "bird tribe". "Birds are an archetypal symbol for the spirit and its freedom from the limitations of the material world." I highly HIGHLY recommend reading "Return of the bird tribes" by Ken Carey. Are you here to experience life, to evolve yourself or do feel like your here to accomplish something? Many come to just experience life good and bad, some to work on themselves or karma, and some came here for a purpose and often crave to "change" things in the outer world. If I'm right and you both are in the 3rd category you HAVE to seriously consider reading that book ;) <3

I haven't herd of that book in awhile. It has been recommended to me before, but it has never come into my existence. Haven't been much on reading books these past few years, but sometimes one just crosses your path that feels important to tune into. Thanks for the recommendation. I definitely felt something when I read "bird tribe". Interesting how potent that felt. Great to meet you @thatgrfbeth. Following you.

You are a wonderful story teller @woman-onthe-wing, I really enjoy reading your posts :) the picture of an egg being fried is very artistic as well, so dreamy, makes me wanna smell the wind haha

Thanks very much @kotturinn, I appreciate that :-)
