Art - Murloc Summer Vibe (with steps)

Hello people!

I just love drawing murlocs for some reason! So I decided to draw a summer variant today and put some touches on it.

Now, this is an unknown territory for me, since I don't do children's illustrations, but really wanted to make this one look like a child friendly one to skip all that comic book gritty stuff I mostly do. It was really challenging, because the details and stuff that's in there are a really foreign matter of sorts.

When it came down to coloring it, boy it was a tough ride, not easy at all, because of all the small stuff in there. When I make character design, there isn't that many separate color so begin with, it's mostly about the lines, position, expression etc.

Here, the drawing was an easy one to do, the rest was a challenge!

Dunno how it turned out, you be the judge, because its not my area of expertise by a long-shot. Drawn with ink marker on a paper then scanned and colored in Photoshop with a help of a drawing pad. Mrglrlglrglrlgrl!

Anyway here's the process:

Scanned the ink drawing

Cleaned it up in Photoshop

Added colors, took a long amount of time to do this step

did some shadows and lights

added a bit of textures

polished it a bit with color correction ad added details, and that's the summer murloc!
