"Vulica Brazil" Urban Art Festival – graffiti art - part 1

Let me tell you about interesting project Vulica Brazil which takes place in Minsk, Belarus already for the third year. Every year Brazilian and Belarusian artists get together in Minsk to participate in Urban Art Festival “Vulica Brazil”.
They presented to the city amazing piece of arts which you’ll see here.

I will start from the most popular street in Minsk - Kastrychnickaya street where there are plenty of graffiti works.
The first work belongs to Belarusian artist from Lida Eugine Matsuto (COWEK) and his work “Creation”. Most of the people called it – “Guslar” but this is so called unofficial name.

The main plot of the work is Belarusian folklore. It appeared in 2014 during the project “Vulica Brazil”, and then was continued in 2015 and today I saw guys who still continue to work on it.

There are plenty details that you can spend hours going through.

Colorful roundelay. This work is made in memory of one of the totem - Stone-grandfather. Once it stood nearby the city but now it is displayed in the museum.

So called Old Man – Guslar - According to the author, the music which play Guslar materializes in different subjects and they enshroud him.

Next graffiti is 12-meter-high portrait of Karol Jan Czapski - head of Minsk (1890-1901) who did a lot to the city. He completed the construction of National Theatre, opened horsecar and power station.
The author of this work is also Belarusian artist Sergey Rusak (Izum).

The technique the artist used – stencil style – you can see the drawing only from the distance.

And one more piece of art on the same wall belongs to the Brazilian graffiti guy - Rogerio Fernandes. The mix of Frida Kalo and Van Gogh, Giraffes and others - as he himself described: "In Brazil art, like soccer is an independent and spontaneous creation of streets. The largest city in Latin America is Sao Paulo. It is of course filled with graffiti paintings. People paint their lives. They paint what they think and how they live. My style is bright colors, and a fantastic relationship between two artists: Frida and Van Gogh".
