Glass Implosion Pendant

in #art7 years ago

Here is another glass implosion pendant from 2014. This pendant was made with four different types of borosilicate glass. The process begins by melting clear glass into a small spherical shape. Then, a series of dots are melted onto one hemisphere of the glass sphere with yellow glass. These dots are heated until the whole sphere is the consistency of honey. Next the glass sphere is pressed down on a graphite pad until the yellow dots are pressed upwards in the sphere. This creates the implosion effect. The process is repeated again with pink glass dots. Lastly, a layer of black powdered glass is applied to the bottom side of the glass sphere, behind the imploded dots. This creates the black background.
