Attention Game Devs: A New Social Media Platform Has Emerged!

If you are a game developer, you know how important exposure is to the success of your games. With more and more new games released everyday, it's imperative that you be able to get your creation in front of as many eyes as possible. Leveraging the power of social media is one great way to reach out to potential new players and help build a buzz around your upcoming title before you release it into the wild to your new & eager fans.
Everyone knows about Facebook, Seen.Life, and Twitter, but few users are harnessing the newest, and to-date, the greatest platform in the social media sphere, Steemit.com. A combination of Blogging, Video Uploads AND Music Hosting, they aim to Be-All-End-All for digital content creators. In addition to being a great platform to host and promote your Dev Log/Game Blog, you can also post songs from the soundtrack (similar to SoundCloud) or you can post videos featuring game play or just a casual vlog update (similar to YouTube). All of this translates into more exposure, and the more people see and enjoy your content the more that translates into the STEEM/STEEM Power that you receive. These are the equivalent of Stocks in a company. The more you own, the larger the stake you hold with the platform, which also translates into higher rewards.
If you are technically minded, you can find more information about how the Steemit economy works within their White Paper. If you aren't familiar, White Papers are a mix of Business plan, technical description and a hopeful vision. They can also be a valuable resource in your quest to determine whether a particular Coin is right for you, but that's a discussion for another day.
You know how certain digital items within video games become so valued, that people are willing to pay hundreds of actual dollars to obtain a set of that digitally encoded information? Things like the market place for World of Warcraft where people with hot money just burning holes in their pockets are itching to unload their cash for the next great item, and these items gain their value simply by default of people's desire to spend their money in return for these digital goods. Your banknotes and cryptocurrencies gain their value by the same method. Some people say, "Well, Bitcoin is just numbers on a screen." And this author would agree, and would like to riposte with "As is your Bank Account." Both of them are merely numbers on a screen until you convert them to fiat currencies.
STEEM is one of the many Cryptocurrencies available today, it can be gained through purchase, trade, or creating digital content. My favorite method is digital content creation, mostly because I don't have any extra fiat to spend on digital tokens, and partly because I am skeptical of spending my money on digital tokens. However, when I post my content, I can gain some STEEM when people like what I've produced, which I can then sell for fiat. Not only do I get exposure for my game, but I am also, to a small degree, crowdfunding my game with STEEM --> USD when I sell. That is certainly more rewarding than getting my private data SOLD via Facebook or the other large corporations.
Another wonderful opportunity that comes with a large enough user base, we are BOUND to find an artist or a programmer who is likely to work for STEEM or other Crpyto-coin, creating an even better opportunity. All of this comes at $0 cost (if you work hard, less your electric bill/internet which you already pay for).

Be aware that the site IS in Beta, so it might take a few days before you are manually approved (I think it was 3 days for me).
DO NOT EVER, (SERIOUSLY DON'T EVER!) EVER, LOSE YOUR PRIVATE KEY! It is non-recoverable. Make a text file, save it on a disc, AND a flash drive and make sure to keep it as safe as a bundle of cash, because it basically is except it's digital. Seriously, don't lose it.

I agree that steemit is one valuable social media for gamedevs.. even though it won't be a lot useful for this month and maybe the next few months... but it would be eventually and every game developer that joins will make this faster!!
