Meet Lucien Jean-Baptiste, a French actor.

in #art8 years ago

After having spent his childhood in Martinique (a small island territory in the Caribbean belonging to France), Lucien Jean-Baptiste left his island to go to Paris.

He passed his diploma in advertising in the French capitaland worked for ten years in event marketing.

When he was 30, Lucien decided to quit his job to have a chance to live his dreams. Lucien joined the Flotent school of acting in the “Classe Libre course” http://www.coursflorent.education/

During a competition, a member of the jury, Thomas Le Douarec spotted Lucien and offered him to play in a theatre play “Gros René Ecolier” (a schoolboy) from Molière.

At the same time Lucien was offered by Annie Milon, a friend of his, to make dubbing trials for Eddy Murphy’s voice, a huge challenge for a first attempt, but Lucien’s efforts were rewarded a few months later, with an offer to dub a film. Then all swung into action with a “casting error” where he had to dub “The Lords of Harlem” with proven dubbing actors, such as Thierry Desroses or the Martial Brothers and it did become a real success.

In 2000, he was awarded Charles Oulmont’s best actor award. In 2001 he acted in the very beginning of Camera Café in the role of a firm’s psychologist. This experience only lasted for a season, as Lucien chose to stop to fully dedicate to the cinema.

His first main role came in 2005 in “Emmenez moi” (Take me with you) with Gerard Darmon and Zinedine Soualem.

Lucien does not only stick to acting : He also wrote and is about to make a film on a small family from the West Indies who decides to travel to the French Alps mountains, in the eighties to practice skiing. Apart from his work, his other hobbies are music with a preference for Funk, Reggae and last but not least, his son of course.
