The Future

This image is one of the styleframes from my video that didn't quite make the cut. I was so busy with my 60 seconds of Steem video I hadn't posted in 5 days before yesterday. Unheard of! 😋 You should check out the #sixtyseconds tag to see the entries in the competition. There's some REALLY good ones.

This entire little experiment I think is scratching the surface of some of the power of a decentralized community. The way this contest was structured is simple and scaleable. Currently Steem has tens of thousands of daily active users, but what if we had a million? The prize pool would probably be bigger and the contestants would be a lot more.

This gave me an idea for a dapp.

What if there was a dapp that streamlined the process for throwing a contest? What I'm thinking about is something that just visually organizes all the posts and the information pertaining to the contest. So there would be a page that shows the contest announcement that would also visually show peoples pledges of what they are willing to donate to the prize pool. If this was communicated visually I think it could be really powerful.

Here's my little mockup doodle so you can understand what I'm talking about.

I think this could just serve as a less formal worker proposal system as well as people just being able to throw contests for fun. Like currently people would have to trust that people that are pledging money will actually pay the money, and as far as I know there's no sort of escrow ability with Steem (although that would be awesome).
For anyoe not familiar, that would just be an intermediate holding point for money, so that for money to be added to the pot it would actually be sent somewhere, but not to a specific person, and some sort of action would need to be taken the release the funds.

But whatever, we're doing it by just taking people at their word currently, and it's fine for now I think.

Anyway, I'm really happy with the results of this contest, we actually have quite a few really good ads now to share about Steem. If you missed mine, here it is again!

Thanks for looking peeps!

I like it, @midlet ! :D Contests are awesome fun and if there are an easier and more streamlined and fundy way to get them organized, i think it's good for the ecosystem :D

Thanks @veryspider! I just wish I knew how to program and I could just make stuff myself, but hopefully one of our local technical gurus could help out :D
