I went totally outside my comfort zone with this one! (acrylic on canvas)

The snow is quickly melting in the valley, but as it rains down low the snow continues to pile up on the mountain-tops.
My winter was nothing like I had initially imagined it would be. Is that a bad thing? I don't think so. Though I did not get to slash any pillows of fresh snow in the sun, I did get to work on my art quite a bit (and myself in the process).

So, what did I find?

This painting was spur-of-the-moment and so I did not document any of the process, like I had said I would. This piece was something I had to do to get out of my own way and embrace the Joie de vivre of painting in the moment - for the moment and nothing else! It is titled, "Do Not Stare Directly Into The Sun"

It was an awful process. I over-analyze my art to the nth degree and plan it out methodically generally. It is not very creative, but guarantees results. I was going stagnant and needed to "mix it up" a bit.

What do you think?

I think it turned out pretty damn ok! I never considered myself to have a particular style per se. I just painted what I see and it turns out well enough to make a modest living but has always felt lacking and contrived. This feels honest and a bit messy and rough around the edges, but I think I can work with that. I am happy to say that I actually really enjoyed making this.
