Hand-painted T-shirt. MAD MAX. My detailed creative process

Today I want to show you a hand-painted T-shirt with acrylic paints.
I painted this T-shirt for order, the girl wanted to make a gift to her husband. I really liked the film "Mad Max" with Tom Hardy, my husband even blew me to look the previous parts with Mel Gibson, but "The Road of Fury" is the best I think. Therefore, it was a pleasure for me to paint the Mad Max.

For the drawing I used acrylic paints for the fabric "Decola" in a set of 12 colors and set of synthetic flat brushes № 1-5. The color of the T-shirt was chosen by the customer.

First I drew the contours on paper and then drew it on the T-shirt with a pencil.

Then I began to paint the face. Since the drawing will be stylized (if you also remember the tones that were used in the film), I used the shades of orange to make up his face. I impregnated the fabric with the first layers of paint. On the bright areas I put a pure orange color, in the shade - a mixture of orange and blue.

I mixed red paint with blue and I drew with a brown color the Max's hair. With gray color, obtained from a mixture of white and black, I painted over the iron mask on the face of the hero. With blue color I painted his eye, with brown color drew wrinkles on his forehead.

I covered the clothes of Max with a dark gray color. Put light gray stripes on clothes and the most lit places.

I proceed to detailing. With dark gray and brown colors drew shadows on the face and clothes of the hero, with white and a mixture of white and yellow drew the glare.

I continued to supplement the drawing with details. With a fine brush I painted the hero's hair, details on the mask in the form of screws. I emphasized the shadow of the mask on his face.

At the final stage I carefully painted the cloth in the area of Max's clothes, I strengthened the shadows with black color. Acrylic paints slightly fade on the picture in drying process, because of it I emphasized some places for brightness. I drew with black the inscription "MAD MAX" near the picture. Then emphasized the shadows and glare in the picture. Glints on his hair I drew with thin lines of orange color. The edges of the picture were slightly shaded to exclude the effect of chopping off.

Finally, my painting is ready. As soon as the drawing is completely dry (I left the picture to dry for the night), I ironed the shirt properly through the fabric to fix the paints. Now the T-shirt is ready to be packed in the parcel and go to the customer.
