Process of designing and painting a 3x2 metre mural onto MDF sheets, installed in the Woolworths break room.

A recent project I was given full rein to design, daunting at first. I had no idea what I wanted to do except a blend between graffiti type street art juxtaposed with nature. Here's some of the rough ideas I was working on. I wanted to keep it a simple colour palette but Ultimately I opted for something vibrant, symmetrical and a balanced composition.

Each panel measured 1x2 metres tall. Some prep work here, I sanded back the surface and rounded of the edges to reduce wear and tear. After sanding I applied a single coat of primer. Lots of standing around required too.

I thought it would be cool to use lead pencil for the text, it lights up at the right angle. The wording is a slight nod to the conspiracy theories of the sinking of the Titanic and its connection to the creation of the private owned federal reserve bank. Indentured servitude of money and debt is a story for another time...

Very cool, Thank you Mad Curator

This is truly a great piece of art! I love that message that you bring in your panel. I just wonder how many people will get it. Do you maybe have some hints written somewhere so that people know how to think about it?

The only hint is the inscription on the life buoy. Searching the term Federal Reserve RMS Titanic would yield results. The rope restraining the skeleton is much more subtle and overlooked. Thank you!

What a gorgeous mural, @jeremyrfk! This is phenomenal!!! Amazing details!

Thank you @trincowski I appreciate it!

Stunning artwork ! I have resteemed and upvoted it from my FineArtNow Project ! The Idea of this blog is to bring creative people and art enthusiasts together and to increase the reach of Steemit - Artists ! See you soon !

Thank you very much!

Whoa it’s so strange and awesome that Woolworths gave you a free reign to make this mural. The skellie is the most interesting part in this art, I like its unique pose and interaction with the others :).

It does seem strangely upbeat for such a corporate space, I at least won their trust with the first mural, Thanks @scrawly

Simply put. This is astounding. Beautiful clean lines, great colouring. And you even managed to put through your own message , a mark of a real artist.

Oh... and if you ever need goofed up cats faces- I'm your man :)

What an amazing undertaking, @jeremyrfk, and man, did you pull it off!

I get the feeling, though, based on what I was able to see in your process video, that the images aren't doing your mural enough justice. For a while, I didn't see that the skeleton was laying on a boulder, but rather, that it was suspended in the air, but the video made me realize that wasn't the case at all. :)

And that panther's face is pretty life like, I think. Just awesome little details, like the cat with the dagger and the flaming map (at least I think that's what the compass symbol is referring to).

Really like how this turned out.

Never been to a Woolsworth. Not even sure if they made it all the way out to the West Cost of the U.S. or not. How exciting to have the ability to put up whatever you wanted!

Thanks Glen, it was pretty difficult to get a good photograph considering also I was working on this project from my garage, a fairly small space. It's always better to see these things in the flesh

You are certainly correct, there are many ways to interpret it but the compass and map was an inference to finding our path and being tied to false securities. I think Woolworths/Stocklands is only Australia based. Thanks for your comment.

Ah, okay, @jeremyrfk. Looks like Woolworths in Austraila and New Zealand is a supermarket chain. The one I'm thinking of was one of the original five and dime stores that started up in New York the latter part of the 1800s. Thus, the confusion, since both are spelled the same, and I imagined that Woolworth's could have gone all over, and might still be around in parts of it. Looks like the retail stores closed in 1997, and eventually became what is called Foot Locker, which basically sells shoes. :)

re: in the flesh

Well, Australia is on the list of places to go (though probably not any time soon). I'd love to see it person. Regardless of that, it's still an amazing work of art and an awesome accomplishment. :)

I was paying attention during the time lapse for any change in clothing but didn't notice it, so I guess you did it all in one day?

That's odd, perhaps the chain is connected to a wealthy family or simply a coincidence, We have foot locker here too.

Australia is a great place, lots of nice beaches, waterfalls etc..

Unfortunately it took me longer than a day, I did change a number of times through out into black shirts, I own many grey shirts too!
