To Honor Old Masters - Odilon Redon
Odilon Redon (1840 - 1916) was a French graphic artist, painter of symbolism and co-founder of the Société des Artistes Indépendants. The artist's work is divided into an early black phase and a (late) colored phase.

In his black phase, Redon created charcoal drawings and prints whose theme was the human unconscious with its fears and nightmares. They contained dark, fantastical figures from the artist's own imagination.

In the second period of creativity, Redon broke with black tones and began painting color-filled pictures with elements of mythologie and nature.

The artist explains the change in style in the following way: "I realized that, gradually unwinding, the tape of life gives us not only sadness, but also joy. If the artist's work is a song about his life, then, apart from the sad black and white notes, at least some colorful notes of joy should sound in it "
