In a Far Away Galaxy...

There is a fantastic world, lacking a solid surface. It is covered by oceans of mercury, and in them there is life... although very different from how we know it.

The creatures that inhabit it depend on the Mother of Truth for their survival. She gives them the nutrients they need to survive every day, and helps those who have lost their way to find their way; and the light to those who have lost their senses.

Perhaps one day the Mother's lights will go out, and her leaves will disappear completely. On that day, life will be extinguished all over the planet. Not because the beings there will no longer have the breath of the Mother of Truth, but because when her light is extinguished, she in an attempt to recover it will extract the vitality of those who were feeding throughout their existence ...

Stages of Creation

First Stage: Lineart

To create the lineart I used an old drawing I made at the beginning of 2017. It's the original design, and in it I wanted to transmit something different: that there is a fantastic world right next to the real world, and that getting there is as simple as crossing the bridge that joins them, which is the woman tree that stars in the illustration.

Having the lineart ready, I decided to take into account the opinion of someone whose creative criteria I trust and made some modifications to the design, which turned its meaning and literally.

Stage Two: Base Colors

While placing the base colors, I had not yet come up with the idea that the liquid covering the planet would be mercury, so my first choice for the extraterrestrial ocean was the color purple.

Stage Three: Shadows and Depth

At this stage I changed the purple color of the liquid to a silver one, and added the submerged hair silhouette that was in the original design (only with decorative sense).

Stage Four: Luminosity

Being my favorite stage, and the one that in my opinion "gives magic" to any illustration, in this fourth stage I gave effect of luminosity to the eyes, the leaves and a bit of luminous reflection in the face. I also added an energy arc (with only decorative sense) that intertwines the background planets and added white dots to the outer space that simulate distant stars.
