I came across my children's 1990 pocket dictionary on the bookshelf today. This little dictionary was well used and we had fun and laughter looking up the meaning of words with it.

It brought back so many memories.

I decided to paint a miniature painting as a keepsake remembering spending long hours reading books together with my children in their early years. When they stumbled on a word they didn't know, I asked them what they thought the meaning was. If they said they didn't know, I helped them to use context clues first. If they still couldn't work it out, then we got the dictionary.

Gone are the days that you need to keep a pocket dictionary handy when there are so many free apps to download on a cellphone. The new apps have the pronunciation of words and even can translate to a different language.

Great little conversation starter to frame and hang on a memory wall.
