Where to begin
Before creating your first creation, you need to understand that you will draw and draw a sketch in pencil. It is better to choose a drawing with greater details. All small details can "get lost" even in the most accurate oil smears. If you want to repeat some image or motif that you like, you can transfer it to the canvas in advance using paper for copying. To do this, it will need to be translated into thin paper and then transferred to the canvas itself. Your sketch should be fixed with a cloth primer or a thin layer of fixing liquid, which is sold in any store for creativity. 

How to create a sketch correctly
Experts advise to sketch the future composition with a coal pencil, because it is easier to remove it from the primed surface, simply wiping it with a damp cloth. True coal drawing must be fixed on the canvas with fastening compound. Otherwise, it will mix with the paint and give it a dirty shade. In addition, coal dust will prevent the fixation of the paint on the fabric. In addition, to create a sketch for oil painting on canvas, you can draw a carbon sketch with a simple pencil, sanguine or liquid diluted turpentine paint, and then clean the coal dust. 

Working with color
If you know something about the relationship between colors and their hues, then most likely you will cope without a color wheel. Otherwise, it will help you to more competently approach the choice of a color palette for your painting. All colors are divided into warm and cold, depending on the fineness that are present in them. Warm colors include a yellow subtle, cold - gray. All colors that are located in the color circle opposite each other are called optional, for example, yellow and purple are additional colors relative to each other. If in the image such colors are close, they will enhance their brightness and the adjacent shade. If they are applied one on another, they neutralize each other. To get the desired shade, you need to add a little extra color to the original color and experiment with the proportions. 

For example, to create a muted yellow-orange color, it is not enough just to add a yellow orange pigment. You will need to reduce the intensity of both shades with a droplet of violet paint, which is complementary to them. To initially not get lost in these subtleties, get a color wheel. After writing a few photos, you will already be working on the machine, forgetting about the circle. To teach your eyes to recognize a greater number of different shades, and also learn how to find the best color solutions, it is better to go to the courses in oil painting. An experienced teacher will tell you what to look for, how to "curb" color rendition and what exercises will help to become a more sensitive artist.
