El es William, tiene 10 años, aunque demuestra ser un poco mayor, tiene 6 hermanos, sus días los ocupa trabajando y buscando el sustento para su familia, aunque parezca increíble el pequeño William trabaja desde hace un par de años, de hecho lo conocí de esta manera, trabajamos juntos en el año 2016, sinceramente creo que esta es una de las muestras mas grandes de la injusticia que vivimos hoy en día, con a penas 10 años William debe trabajar todo el día y no disfruta de su infancia, vive preocupado por llevar comida para sus 6 hermanos y su madre la cual también pasa todo el día trabajando, hace un par de semanas la casa donde ellos vivían se cayó por los fuertes vientos, esta casa era de lata y estaba ubicada en una zona bastante peligrosa de Timotes, y lamentablemente las personas quienes tienen el control del gobierno local solo los ayudaron con 4 kg de comida, una total irresponsabilidad por parte de esas personas quienes solo quisieron usar esta tragedia para hacer Populismo Barato.

He is William, he is 10 years old, although he seems to be a little older, he has 6 brothers, his days are spent working and looking for sustenance for his family, although it seems incredible the little William works for a couple of years, in fact I met him In this way, we work together in 2016, I sincerely believe that this is one of the greatest signs of the injustice that we live in today. with just 10 years William must work all day and does not enjoy his childhood, he lives worried about bringing food for his 6 brothers and his mother who also spends all day working, a couple of weeks ago the house where they lived collapsed due to the strong winds, this house was made of tin and was located in a very dangerous area of Timotes,and unfortunately the people who have the control of the local government only helped them with 4 kg of food, a total irresponsibility on the part of those people who only wanted to use this tragedy to make Cheap Populism.

The faces of my town

El proyecto los rostros de mi Pueblo fue una idea que se me ocurrió hace un par de años sin embargo no contaba con la trayectoria ni el apoyo suficiente para llevarlo a cabo, consiste en retratar los rostros mas característicos de la ciudad de Timotes usando el estilo del Hiperrealismo, para proceder luego a subastar las obras en un evento que se llevará a cabo a principios del mes de Junio, en el cual todo el dinero recaudado será usado para comprar comida, ropa y medicinas para las personas mas necesitadas de Timotes.

The project the faces of my people was an idea that occurred to me a couple of years ago, however I did not have the trajectory nor enough support to carry it out, it consists in portraying the most characteristic faces of the city of Timotes using the style of Hyperrealism, to proceed then to auction the works in an event that will take place at the beginning of June, in which all the money collected will be used to buy food, clothes and medicines for the people most in need of Timotes.

Continuando con este nuevo proyecto, este retrato resulta bastante significativo para mi, como ya expliqué el pequeño William trabajó conmigo hace un par de años en un abasto cerca de mi casa, como era de esperarse el sueldo era miserable, sin embargo era mejor que nada, cuando renuncié al trabajo no volví a verlo durante mucho tiempo sin embargo hace poco trabajando en labores sociales con el Frente juvenil "Manos por Venezuela" lo encontré por casualidad en una de las localidades mas peligrosas de Timotes, no solo por la inseguridad, sino por el alto riesgo de desastres que representa la zona por estar demasiado cerca del río, estuvimos conversando un rato, no me imaginaba la situación tan deplorable en la que William vivía, su casa es realmente pequeña con paredes de lata, y en ella habitaban 8 personas, William, sus 6 hermanos y su Madre, Algunos de sus hermanos también trabajan, pero el mayor de ellos tiene solo 12 años. Sinceramente me resulta gratificante poder hacer parte de este proyecto al pequeño William, como una muy humilde forma de recompensar su esfuerzo, trabajo, amor y dedicación por su familia. La subasta de las obras será realizada la primera semana de Junio en El Brasero Tasca Restaurant en la ciudad de Timotes.

Continuing with this new project, this portrait is quite significant for me, as I explained the little William worked with me a couple of years ago in a supply near my house, as expected the salary was miserable, however it was better than nothing, When I resigned from work, I did not see him again for a long time, however, recently working in social work with the "Manos por Venezuela" Youth Front, I found it by chance in one of the most dangerous places in Timotes, In addition to the insecurity, the high risk of disasters that the area represents for being too close to the river, we talked for a while, I could not imagine the deplorable situation in which William lived, his house is really small with brass walls, and it was inhabited by 8 people, William, his 6 brothers and his Mother, Some of his brothers also work, but the oldest of them is only 12 years old. I sincerely find it gratifying to be able to make part of this project to little William, as a very humble way to reward your effort, work, love and dedication for your family. The auction of the works will be held the first week of June at El Brasero Tasca Restaurant in the city of Timotes.

The Process

La piel del rostro en esta obra la hice aplicando una variada gamma de colores, en la fotografía original se apreciaban algunos destellos de luz amarilla proveniente del reflejo de la camiseta del niño, además de algunas iluminaciones azules, sin embargo lo que es mas notorio es la cantidad de manchas en la piel, entre lunares y pecas, para lograr definir estos detalles primero marqué la textura en la cartulina punto por punto usando un lápiz 6H y luego apliqué el color para dejar algunos puntos en blanco, además, para contrastar, hice el mismo procedimiento con lápices de color negro y marrón.

The skin of the face in this work was made by applying a variety of colors, in the original photograph there were some flashes of yellow light coming from the reflection of the child's shirt, in addition to some blue illuminations, however what is more noticeable is the amount of spots on the skin, between moles and freckles, to define these details I first marked the texture on the cardboard point by point using a 6H pencil and then applied the color to leave some points blank, in addition, to contrast, i did the same procedure with black and brown pencils.

La boca fue lo mas difícil de trabajar, encontrar el color adecuado me tomó un par de horas, usé una especie de mezcla entre color Terracota, Tan, Naranja, y blanco, luego procedí a pintar la zona del cuello, la cual no contiene tanta textura pero si una gran cantidad de colores debido a que las sombras no eran uniformes.

The mouth was the most difficult to work, finding the right color took me a couple of hours, I used a kind of mixture between Terracotta, Tan, Orange, and white, then I proceeded to paint the area of the neck, which does not contain much texture but a lot of colors because the shadows were not uniform.

Para finalizar, pinté la camiseta, tardé mas de lo que esperaba, en esta área tuve que cuidar mucho las iluminaciones, a pesar de ser el detalle menos vistoso de la obra es mejor cuidar hasta el último detalle, las texturas las dibujé antes de aplicar el color tal y como hice con el rostro, pero en este caso usando lineas onduladas que daban forma a la dirección de la tela, oscurecí algunas zonas usando color marrón oscuro y siena, y luego le di detalle y color al cabello, usando siempre la misma técnica para las texturas, y usando un borrador moldeable para aclarar algunas zonas.

To finish, I painted the shirt, it took longer than I expected, in this area I had to take care of the lighting, despite being the least showy detail of the work it is better to take care of the last detail, the textures I drew before applying the color as I did with the face, but in this case using wavy lines that gave shape to the direction of the fabric, I darkened some areas using dark brown and sienna, and then I gave detail and color to the hair, always using the same technique for textures and using a moldable eraser to lighten some areas.
