Artists' Highlights at C-squared

Hi everyone !

I've been spidering around Steemit's visual art spheres for a while now and it has always been a passion of mine to support, recognize, and highlight artists and their works :D

I will try to bring these highlights weekly or bi-weekly via C-Squared's platform, so you can browse and enjoy these beautiful talents we have on Steemit :)

Note: if you have an artist that you think should be appreciated more, let me know at any time :> You can leave a comment on these posts, and I will try to pick them up in future editions

Week 3 Artists

@chrisdyer

@chrisdyer joined Steemit back in November 2017. Chris is a passionate and energetic artist, always channeling positivity and creativity with his posts, arts, and infectious personality :D In real, he paints murals, designs, illustrates, tours and generally CREATE any where and any time he can :)

He is also an enthusiastic traveler, always eager to experience and feel the world around him through his own eyes and senses and he is currently traveling through India :D

If you would like to get to know Chris better, please check out his wonderful website at http://positivecreations.ca/

Here are a few beautiful posts that highlight @chrisdyer's works:

Sunlight Chronicles - Book 1, Page 114 - Chris uploads pages from his personal diary, and they are often wonderfully illustrated with his travels, recollections, and thoughts. Nothing is hidden. A very open invitation for all who would like to get to know him, to really get to know him :)

Astral Entity - Here is an example of Chris' art style ! This one is a painting and it is beautifully detailed with bold colours :D

Sedated Slaveship - This piece was done for a festival poster in North Dakota, and if you check the post out, you'll see that Chris reworked his older design from when he was only 19. His style has really found its stride and came into its own vibrancy !

To be honest, it is very difficult to select only three highlights for Chris as he is a very prolific artist, so I encourage you all to check out his Steemit and his website to really discover the true depth of what he has to offer :)

I'll include one last picture of Chris, from his post titled "12 Years Ago - A Throwback to starting out as a full time artist", where you can really appreciate the journey, courage and toil of a real artist starting out in this world.

Being an artist is not a glamorous occupation, so this is why I am very passionate about supporting artists and also about protecting artists' rights and talents. If you are a budding artist and you rely on other artists' works (be it in form of design, idea, composition, reference, etc.) to learn and to get better at arting - please, please, please CITE YOUR SOURCES.

@SanderJansenart

Sander Jansen joined Steemit almost to the week 12 months ago, on 24 January 2018 ! :D Happy early Steemit anniversary from me, Sander :D

Sander is a wonderful artist, a warm person, funny and talented, with a capacity for translating the human experience into his beautiful and unique pieces. His style is distinctive and very expressive. There are emotions and messages in Sander's artworks that captured his own journey and tribulations and they are always very genuine, very honest.

In real, Sander is an artist who has done exhibitions, mostly in Amsterdam. To discover more about Sander and his body of work, please check out his Steemit and also his instagram (same @) and his website is at http://www.sanderjansen.net/

Here are a few beautiful posts that highlight @SanderJansenart's works:

Awake - Ballpoint pen and watercolour, here we see a showcase of Sander's unique style. There is a lot of emotions captured in his pieces, both in the central character's face and in the faces of his environment. And he does a lot of faces :)

You can also see the strange and intuitive message captured in his works, as I immediately was able to relate to the title and its relationship with feelings of being 'awake' in the midst of other voices, other people, ... the world.

Assimilate - Album cover for the "Dark Whispers" from Alice-D Records in Germany. This is a massive piece done by pencil and ink, and you should click the link to the post to really appreciate the amount of work that went into this beautiful artwork. You can also see the final results of the CD cover, and it is simply a ma zing.

Facing Distractions - A digital piece, Sander displays his style in beautiful and unique design, clean inking, gorgeous detailing, and rich colours. As you can see, his style is very distinctive and eye-catching and this is his current evolution of his digital arts. I love his faces and his flow, he uses abstraction to form seemingly solid structures and shapes, but the more you look at his paintings, the more you understand that everything on his canvas interconnects.

Again, please visit the actual post for more on this painting. The process is quite wonderful to appreciate :)

As with Chris Dyer, I found it very difficult to choose only three from Sander Jansen's portfolio. There's so much talent and uniqueness and I recommend you to really browse when you have the time :)

On a last note, Sander will have an exhibition starting from 13 January for two months ! If you are in the Netherlands, please check him out in person and support this wonderful artist :)

Sander has suffered from others abusing his creativity and originality in the recent months, and he'd need all the cheer you can give him.

This piece was attributed to another artist's name on a published magazine and the person did not cite Sander as the original artist:

The "artist" responded to Sander that it is a "re-draw". Which really does not make it okay not to cite the original person who came up with the concept. See this post where Sander wrote about how upset this has made him feel.

As you can see, these kinds of dubious practices are done very selfishly and they genuinely hurt the real artists. So, again, if you are a student of art and you rely on other existing works, please please please CITE YOUR SOURCES.

Sorry about the mini-rant, but Sander is a friend and it is always a harrowing thing to see your friends' spirits wounded.

So that's the third two for these periodical highlights from C-squared featured artists :D

Wow really loving these in-depth writeups. These are two of my favorite artists on platform and this really gives a good taste of what they are all about.

Thanks as well for sharing a real life example of another artist using work without permission and the way it impacted @sanderjansenart . I think a lot of the time people sort of conceptualize art theft as a victimless crime, not a big deal. Obviously, it is a very big deal to an artist who discovers their work was stolen without permission.

I love this artists highlights series, a great way to give an extra reward to some deserving artists! Remember everyone reading this, 100% of the post rewards from this post will go to the featured artists (that includes the SP portion, the @c-cubed account matches the SP portion with liquid Steem).

Much love - Carl

Aaah I am so glad you likey, Carl :D I didn't realize how much I had gotten to know these beautiful people until I sat down and write about them, to be honest :)

Yeah, people do think that way about fraudulent practices in art, sometimes! But artists are people too, you know (do we not bleed when you cut us, oh!) ... Artists have feelings and pride and livelihood, too, and these are not victimless crimes!

But yesh, the only way forward is to talk and educate and show others :) There's always rooms for dialog!

Thank you so much for the feedback, Carl ! It motivates me to start my work on the next highlight !!! :D

Another great feature, spider. I really like that you know so much about other artists that you can just write easily about them. It is a good read though not so much about the art theft. Hopefully this article will educate them more about it.

Hello @c-cubed, thank you for sharing this creative work! We just stopped by to say that you've been upvoted by the @creativecrypto magazine. The Creative Crypto is all about art on the blockchain and learning from creatives like you. Looking forward to crossing paths again soon. Steem on!

tek kelimeyle harika👌
