Hello Steemit community

in #art7 years ago (edited)

I was raised in England but not born there. I have lived in Norway for 14 years now and thus I would say I was an acclimatized Norwegian and have learned the language. My education and career was art based and today I try to earn, or should I say, survive, a living through my art. However in this fast changing ever evolving world we live, the role of art, and of the artist, is also undergoing changes in its evolution. In fact there is a silent crises in the art world today which has lead many artists to fall into a deep form of creative depression. For artists, and when I use that term, I mean artists who are dedicated to discovering those pockets of meaningfulness and sharing in those discoveries with anyone who wishes to share in the experience of them, are part of an art world that is based upon the idea of different games.  Three games in particular. The game of  "who can create art that makes them the new genius and thus secure their place in history", the game of fame, and also the game of commodity. Most artists are, whether they realize is or not, are trapped in these "games" which is why art is stuck, and just can´t move on. For years I have struggled to find another way but to no avail. This lead me to almost give up on art altogether, as have many other former artists I know personally. However, just recently have I discovered fresh ideas and philosophies that seem to suggest possibilities for a different direction for art and for a new purpose for artists. I am currently exploring those areas and intend to use my Steemit account to write and display progress along these new directions.

In the mean time here is an example of one of my earlier paintings. This one is called "Abstract reflection of myself"

Welcome to Steemit! :))

Hey thanks for that, very friendly.

Christmas Greetings from Vancouver Island, Arthur, and welcome to Steemit, eh?

Hey merry Christmas from Norway. Vancouver Island wow fabulous. Many years ago I was considering emigrating to Canada and it was Vancouver that pretty much took my eye as the place to move to. Until I met a Norwegian lady and that changed everything ha ha. Still it is a place I will surely visit one before I leave this life. Thanks for the welcome

Women tend to do things like that to us weaker sexers :-)

Great introduction post. I really like what you said about art in this day and age. I am new here and I was looking through introduction posts to get some ideas... I have not yet made mine. Welcome!

Hi, thanks for taking time to write that was very nice what you said and oh yeah welcome to Steemit. I am new myself but I have heard great things about the community from friends and blogs etc. The impression I get is that the majority are very intelligent and also that honesty is highly valued here. This in itself attracted me to the platform as I am so sick and tired of the bullshit that bogs down real life as well as life online life. It has become so difficult to find your way through the fog of deception and lies. Life and particularly the internet, was never meant to be like that and so perhaps in a way people saw Steemit as a second chance to begin again with the right intentions. On this bases I would advise to literally just be yourself. Forgive me if I over step in saying that, I was merely reacting to your comment "I was looking through introduction posts to get some ideas". I have a motto I kind of live by: Honesty will always be more powerful than cleverness. Are you an artist yourself? By the way If you liked what I wrote about art, you might find what i wrote in my first real posting with regards to how art is changing after the destructive era of Rene Magritte.

Welcome to Steemit Arthur. I like your art! Upvoted and followed, looking forward to your next post!

Hey thanks for taking time to make contact the welcome, much appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there @arthuradamson, welcome to the coolest place on the internet! I've been here only two weeks, but it has been an amazing ride so far! Nothing at all like other horrible social media. Every blog is like visiting a cool new place, a used book store, a trendy art gallery, a guide through time...way too many to list! Your piece is awesome :) If you don't mind a few f bombs here and there, a great artist in that type of style is @nonamesleftouse, he's hilarious but not always politically correct, though when he's vulgar it's to make a point, not just because. The dreamers and inventors, artists and free thinkers, it is our time now. Nice to meet you!

Hi, wow what a welcome thanks so much. Yeah I agree with all what you say, indeed after only a couple of days on the platform I have been blown away in so many positive ways. I feel like Steemit has, in a way, given the internet a fresh start, a kind of beginning and intention we all wanted. I never expected that but it was a welcome positive surprise and I am so encouraged to be a part if it. I like the way you put it "It is our time now". So nice to meet you too @dreemit

The indicators that let you know if you have a reply seem to be malfunctioning, but I went to your page and read...I already wrote a paragraph on your blog, suffice to say-excellent!!

upvoted and followed.

Hey thanks for upvotong. I am not exactly sure why but I am grateful, cheers!

This is known as hope we all have it. You are welcome.

Welcome to Steemit, Arthur! Always great to see a fellow Norwegian member here :)

Takk skal du har. Spennende!

Hi, Arthur.
Wlcome, Just write simple thing about your self.
But a picture tells
thousand words..

Hi, yeah thanks, I was having difficulty posting a picture but I think I am getting the hang of it now. I have also posted a blog type thing as well.

Welcome to Steemit! There is lots to see, do and learn here! Are those mountains there right outside your house like - on the deck you are on?? BC that would be EPIC

Hi, thanks for the welcome, much appreciated. Yeah mountains and fjords pretty much surround my house.

nice to meet You arthuradamson :) You are a delightful person and i wish you the best and for Your creativity to grow +++

Ha ha very nice of you paigemoore and I wish you the same in return.
This brought back memories of when I first joined last year in December.
It was literally a leap of faith.
I had heard about Steemit from a friend and wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
So I "checked it out".
As an artist I see patterns, and what I noticed was that those who were "themselves" from the beginning tended to do well. Accepted easier and quicker. I mean those who used their real name and they took a photo of themselves holding a sheet of paper with a date. Doing this proves that you are a genuine real person and you are asking others to treat you as that. I was really impressed with this. Of course there are those who dont do this and have pseudonym names and they still do well, but there is always a thought in the back of your mind that you will never know if this person is genuine or not. This is where the reputation score come in of course.
Standing for your real name and real self is being truthful rather than clever. One of the phrase I invented and known for in art circles is "Truth will always be more powerful than cleverness".
Truth moves us, cleverness impresses us.
When a child tells a mother "I love you mama" she is moved to tears. When the same child solves a rubiks cube, is the mother still moved to tears?
Steemit is not perfect by any means, but it is far far better than anything social media platform out there. The leaders of Steemit genuinely care and believe in blockchain technology and a decentralised future world.
Intention is everything because intentions determines our actions.
Look forward to seeing you "intoduceyourself" post paigemoore. Do it when you are ready, when it feels right. That´s what did anyway. All I can say is that I do not regret it.
