Does meen foovasta mean don't be afraid? I've never heard the term, but I'm not Greek, though I LOVE Greek food! A very revealing letter, and your recollection of the abuse you endured and how it made you feel is saddening.
I think your 15 year-old self would have loved to receive this letter.
I finally decided to look it up. If I put "don't be afraid" in the English and translate to Greek, I get
μην φοβάστε, pronounced "meen foovaste"
so my memory is correct. Maybe I heard it more often than I thought.
My 64 year old self learned a lot writing it, so in effect my 15 year old self did too.
