It is all about pump and dump here

in #antique7 years ago (edited)

It is one of the pump and dump machines you use for a vineyard. I don't know how it is called in Englesh so lets call it The pump and dump machine.

If you leave a comment with the precise name I will be thankful. So everyone who had a vineyard had one of those back in the day. It has only one purpose: to spray some insecticides. Usually they were shiped here from Italy or France but later on you could buy Balkan made in our region. There are also biger ones, with two wheels on, for easy deployment. The old ones, like this one, are mede from copper, iron, brass and rubber. So if you got one and have no purpose for it you can hang it on the wall like a decoration. Or you can jusy sell it to a junk yard. The smartest thing to do is to clean it and fill it up with alcohol. It will come in handy on music festivals, big sports manifestations and October fest. So the tank is mostly made of copper and it's where you pour your sulphur based insecticides.

The capacity of the tank is around 15 liters. On the right side is the air pump. You pump air into the tank so the air pressure can dump the insecticides. The pumping mechanisam is usually made of brass. It is unpleasant if you'r not a righty, because the right hand is doing all the work. On the left side we got the extruder, which is also made of brass and is connected with a rubber pipe. So the left hand has the easy job. Back pain is guaranteed and the right arm would be happy if you cut it of after a whole days work with The pump and dump machine. The price on those are around 80 Euros and down for the used once. Unless you want a new, shiny, in take, P.A.D.M. This one is a Vermorel manufacturer by a small family business in 1843, in a small village called Beauregard near Lyon. Antoine Vermorel started building agricultural machinery but later on they made cars. The family car business died when Édouard Vermorel died in 1957. But the traditional car builders stoped working in 1965. This item has an
interesting history and has antique status so selling it to the scrapers is not going to make you ritch. Hold on to it and who knows, one day it can have some major value.

The good thing is todays machines give you only beck pain.

Spraying vineyard like Ironman

I think in English it would just be called a pump action sprayer.
