I always wonder where our western Atlantic population spends its breeding time. I see them here off the coast of New England, feeding, for much of summer and fall.
They are one of my favorites as well. I believe that population, which feeds in the western Atlantic typically head south towards Cuba, Dominican Republic and all the way down to Venezuela depending on which breeding population they are in.
yeah, checked up a bit more... yes.
Mostly, they breed in the Caribbean, and sometimes venture towards So. America.
I've started following and communicating with the folks at The Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies. They have a book with the whales known, there. Helps with ID'ing for me. Nice to see who's related to who?
