Heartbreaking news for nature lovers: jaguars abused as tourist attraction in Mexico
Hi there my Steemian friends and followers!
I am sorry to be negative again but I have just found out that in my beloved Mexico, there is a new, absolutely disgusting practice that abuses animals as a form of tourist attraction.
I have already informed you about some sad things happening in Mexico in this post some 3 weeks ago and today, I am going to raise awareness about a hideous practice in Cancun where jaguars, the magnificent cats that have already been extirpated from a significant part of their natural habitat, are chained and forced to swim in the sea so that tourists can take photos of them from jet skis.

When I first saw the news, I thought it must have been a bad joke or something because Mexico has been trying to improve their environmental and wildlife protection policy lately but then, you get to see something like this happening in the most popular and visited tourist area of the country and your hopes for better future of animals living in Mexico are ruined again.
I don´t really know what else to say as I am totally heartbroken about this. I have never seen a wild jaguar because the population of these amazing creatures has been constantly declining (mostly due to the habitat loss) and they are now very close to becoming a threatened species.
I just don´t understand what kind of people can do something like this to them and what kind of people can actually enjoy this "attraction" and take photos of the poor cats chained and forced to do things they would never do in their natural environment. I am pretty sure some big fat bribe was involved in it though.
Shame on everyone participating in this atrocious business!
I am sorry to come up with this rant post guys. As I mentioned in the last one, I usually try to focus on positive stuff when blogging but this was just a bit too much to keep it for myself...

Nemáš zač, je to maximální porce. I když šop nějak nešopuje. ;)
Díky moc. Snažím se vám to oplácet aspoň upvotem. Mám teď podezření, že mě Steem Engine začal nějak podvádět, v záložce Rewards mi vůbec nic nepřibývá, přestože tagy používám pořád stejné a třeba na Palnetu mi to pod mými posty ukazuje stále (plus mínus) stejné odměny jako dřív. Tak je možné, že ani ty vaše piva a trdelníky mi už nechodí. Nevím, nějak moc jsem se tím zatím nezabýval. Ale díky, že mi to posíláte, je to od vás hezké ;)
Není zač ;-) Smart-engine měl v poslední době nějaký výpadek, od té doby nefunguje !shop.
Piva by ti měly chodit přímo do stakovaných.
Možná jsi se stal obětí nějaké chyby systému po tom výpadku, netuším.

Jinak na automatické "claimování" tokenů na Steem-engine používám Smartsteem, je to pohodlné.

Já mám spíš pocit, jakoby se mi ty odměny teď do peněženky připisovaly samy... V záložce Rewards teď nemám na vyzvednutí skoro nic, jen nějaké tisícinky... Budu se na to muset pořádně podívat :)

Tak v dnešní době je už naštěstí dost turistů uvědomělých (občas jsem třeba vídal turisty sbírat na plážích bordel po místních), ale pořád se mezi nimi samozřejmě najdou i hovada, kterým by tahle věc přišla jako fajn zábava.
To jo. Naštěstí je více lidí rozumných. Ale taky bohužel, kde je poptávka, tam je i nabídka. A zvláště v zemi jako je Mexiko.

Někdy se říká, že se lidi chovají jako zvířata. Lidi se chovají jako lidi. Zvíře by tohle neudělalo.
Tak tak... Zvířata jen následují přirozený instinkt. Sama od sebe neumějí být zlá. To je "výsada" nás lidí... :/

Ouch, that's horrible. I can't believe any self respecting tourist would even pay for something so disgusting. Hopefully enough awareness can be raised to eliminate wildlife abuse like this.
Exactly. Coming with such a disgusting business is one thing but supporting is just as bad if not worse... Yeah, let´s hope it will be eliminated soon and the poor cats given a better life. But after living in Mexico for 2 years, I have my doubts, unfortunately...
I think supporting is worse, I'm a firm believer that turning a blind eye to injustice is still participation, paying for it calling it entertainment...yuk. As much as I like wildlife and seek new experiences, I go out of my way to only support accredited conservation programs. You can always tell by the mood of the animal how they are treated. Call me crazy cat lady, animals have feelings and I rescue the odd feral or stray. Their personality changes if they are loved and feel secure rather than miss treated.
I can only agree with everything you just wrote here ;) It always feels great to find another dedicated nature lover / animal rights advocate. There are many of us here on Steem actually, this is also one of the reasons I like this community so much.
