Fellow steemians, today I will be talking about our best “animal” friend, the dog.
Below are the reason you must have at least one dog at home.

1. Dogs are smarter than a two-year-old toddler.
   kids are known to be very close to dogs. They basically rapport very well. Generally, dogs like kids and see them as best friends.

2. Dogs bend their head and use the tip of their tongue to drink water while raising the water in a column to reach their mouth.

3. Dogs see even better at night;
   we all know that there is something extraordinary about dog’s vision, ability to see well at night. This helps the dog to see the details of things nearby. This superpower characteristic of dogs helps the dog to see approaching dangers and alert people nearby.

4. One of the characteristics of dogs is panting. Paw pads are found between the foots of a dog and its used for panting which serves as a cooling effect for dogs on a hot day.

5. Dogs are known to grow faster; dogs generally grow faster, however, the rate of growth of dogs depends on the type of breed a dog is. Nevertheless, dogs made of large breeds grow faster than the ones with small breeds.

6. Scientists conducted a research on certain breeds of dogs; Rottweiler, American pit bull terrier and German shepherd and found that those dogs have ten times more adult teeth and exert 320 pounds of pressure.

7. Dogs perceive emotions;
   dogs are known to be emotional animals. They can be able to feel when the mood of its owner changes. Dogs can detect the mood swings of its owner. Dogs can also detect when a household member is pregnant.

8. Dogs have the sense of smell 10 million times compared to humans.
   The dog's brain is about 1/125th while human brains are 1/40th weight. Dog’s scent glands range from 125 million to 300 million depending on the breed. Moreover, the sense of smell for dog’s is 40 times bigger than humans.

9. Research has shown that dogs have a sense of time, which enables them to know and keep time. Dogs are known to keep track of the daily activities of humans. Dogs are fast learners.

10. it’s a known fact that puppies are deaf at birth. However, as they grow, dog’s hearing increases to four times as that of humans, with a high pitching sound capable of detecting a frequency range of 67 - 45,000htz while that of humans ranges from 64 to 23,000htz. Nevertheless, the hearing in dog decreases with age.
