The Yenisey below Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station is the river is ice-free all year round. Length of the polynya is 100 km in cold winter, up to 315 km. in relatively warm. In the city Krasnoyarsk open water is all winter, only in some places along the shore formed ice edge. Migratory waterfowl began to use this man-made feature of the Yenisei for wintering without long flights.
Енисей ниже Красноярской ГЭС - это река незамерзающая круглый год. Длина полыньи составляет от 100 км. в морозные зимы, до 315 км. в относительно теплые. В черте города открытая вода стоит всю зиму, лишь кое где вдоль берега образуется кромка льда. Перелетные водоплавающие птицы стали пользоваться этой рукотворной особенностью Енисея для зимовки без дальних перелетов.
In order to survive the Siberian winter, local ducks have mastered not only swimming in ice water, but also walking on ice.
Для того, чтобы пережить сибирскую зиму, местные утки освоили не только плаванье в ледяной воде, но и пешие прогулки по льду.
Walking on the ice ducks quite funny, so they try to swim more.
Ходьба по льду, надо признаться, выглядит немного неуклюжей и утки стараются плыть при первой возможности.
